Institutional Research Data Analyst IRDAIR1117

Description: The Institutional Research Data Analyst provides technical and professional support for the office; demonstrates knowledge of database systems, higher education concepts and has experience with or transferable skills in institutional research resources and activities that include data retrieval, data analysis, and data management; develops reports and visual representations; develops and/or maintains databases; and is responsible for retrieving and presenting meaningful data to relevant constituents to meet their needs and objectives.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform institutional data and statistical analysis utilizing a variety of statistical software packages to aggregate data, and prepare standard and/or ad hoc reports in appropriate formats.
  • Develop, document & maintain optimized SQL based code across several database management systems and enhance data auditing.
  • Design and implement ETL mappings using Oracle Warehouse Builder and build BI projects, packages, and reports using BI tools.
  • Collect requests and project requirements, guide constituents to determine the most appropriate analytical methodology needed, and report and document the processes and outcomes.
  • Assist in the development of annual institutional and departmental reports and publications that include the semester reports, government requests and other annual reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate with other departments to assist in the implementation of various institutional research activities, surveys, evaluations, helpdesk tickets and subsequent results.
  • Work as a member of a team and serve as a resource on university committees as needed; and further train and direct others work as required.

 
Qualification: Bachelor's degree, preferably in mathematics, statistics, computer science/engineering, data analytics or a related field.

Experience
  • Two (2) years or more of related experience preferably in higher education
  • Experience with relational databases, data extraction, and data warehousing.
  • Experience designing and producing analysis, reports, or research projects that present accurate, consistent data in clear and appropriate narrative, tabular and graphical formats. 
Skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (Arabic Preferable)
  • Ability to work with different types of data files, large datasets, and relational databases.
  • Knowledge of statistical packages (like SPSS) and associated scripting/programming languages.
  • Develop, document, and maintain SQL based code for data analysis and data extract.
  • Previous knowledge in Banner Suite and business intelligence and visualization tools such as Argos, Cognos BI, Hyperion, and Tableau.
  • Strong understanding of database design, theories, principles, and practices.
  • Ability to learn new software and general front-end reporting tools.
  • Ability to work with different people, prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Familiar with university, college and government data management and utilization
