About Center for Gulf Studies
Oral History and Documentation Project
As part of our mission to promote research on and cultivate scholarly interest in the Gulf region, the Center for Gulf Studies is currently in the process of setting up an Oral History and Documentation Project (OHDP). The aim of the OHDP is to build up a large collection of oral testimonies from a diverse range of people on various aspects of Kuwait’s history. For a region where written testimonies are comparatively scarce, the development of a substantial archive of oral histories can serve to widen the field of historical research on Kuwait, particularly in the areas of economic, social, and cultural history.

The CGS is also working closely with the AUK Library to develop a Gulf Studies Special Collection. This collection will include secondary source materials (books and journals) as well as primary sources such as archival documents, travel writings, films, private papers, photographs, and recordings and transcripts of oral histories.
