IEP Accreditation - Self Study Commission
The Intensive English Program at the American University of Kuwait has been engaged in a programmatic self-study in preparation for an accreditation site visit. The policies, practices, and processes of the program were studied to determine if they ensure fulfillment of the mission and satisfaction of the accreditation criteria. A self-study report, produced from this process, has been written. The report is available from this website.
Faculty, staff, students and administrators of American University of Kuwait are encouraged to read the self-study report to prepare for the on-site accreditation visit.
 The self-study report has been submitted to the Commission for Intensive English Program Accreditation (CEA). On February 22, 23, and 24 2009, Consultant/Evaluators from the CEA will visit campus to assess the Intensive English Program for initial program accreditation. The CEA is recognized by the United States Secretary of Education as a reliable authority on the quality of instruction and services provided by accredited English language programs and institutions.
The programmatic self-study provided the opportunity to understand more fully and to improve our Intensive English Program. For more than two years, groups chosen from IEP and various units have studied the program and assessed in what ways the program satisfies the CEA accreditation criteria. The sub-standards’ responses were produced from the resulting conversations and data that were considered. The self-study report is based on these responses and other information about the university.

The Intensive English Program at the American University of Kuwait is accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation for the period August 2009 through August 2014 and agrees to uphold the CEA Standards for English Language Program and Institutions.
