Technical Support
Technical support provides functional departments, faculty and students with technology support and experience.
  • Installing and configuring computer hardware operating systems and applications
  • Initiate applications software installation.
  • Provides Wireless and wired Internet connection support.
  • ollow up with the vendors regarding products, warranties and new technologies.
  • rovides PC trouble shooting, virus removal, data Backup and general computer problems.
  • Provides technical advice and assistance to users concerning data communication equipment and data transmission.
  • Testing and evaluating new technology.
  • Recommends reallocation of operating staff and equipment resources to meet network requirements.
  • Perform creation of new accounts using company provide software tools.

Antivirus Protection

Viruses, Malware and Trojans daily in the technology world. They can spread quickly across networks such as the Internet, causing huge destruction in the system. It is very important that you clean your computer from these infections, as failure to do so can result in the compromise of your banking details, credit/debit card information and the loss of your data (Pictures, Music, essays, etc.). For these reasons, AUK has implemented "ESET" on all computers on campus and update it on daily basis with the latest scan engines and virus data files.

For personal computers/Laptops you can install:

  • Microsoft Essential
  • AVG
  • Avira

Remote Assistance

IT support provides faculty/staff on-campus remote assistance support using "configuration manager remote control" tool. This tool allows an IT person to interact with your computer's desktop without having to physically visit your office by sending a remote access request to be accepted by the user.

Backing up is simply making a copy of data, and then protects that copy in a safe place. If something happens to your computer for any reason that you can no longer get your information off of it then you can always get the information from the backup copies.

The IT department performs daily and weekly backup process for AUK servers (Database servers, Email servers, Fileserver). The data will be backed up and saved on "storage area network" and on media tapes to keep off-campus in a fireproof safe as disaster recovery plan. IT can recover Data/Information/Emails up to a 1 month back dated for all auk users.
