The Department of International Relations at AUK organized a lecture entitled "The Changing Political Landscape of the New Middle East" by Dr. Mona Makram-Ebeid, Distinguished Lecturer in the Department of Political Science at the American University in Cairo (AUC), moderated by Dr. Roman Kulchitsky, Department Chair, and Assistant Professor of the Public Policy & International Relations.

In this lecture, Dr. Makram-Ebeid explained the differences between the Middle Eastern countries in terms of their history, economic levels, and political stability, and she divided them into Arab and Non-Arab countries. She also spoke about the relationship between the Middle East and the rest of the world, and discussed their mutual benefits.

Dr. Makram-Ebeid talked about the situation of the Arab region in specific, and discussed the security challenges and the political problems they face, and how they became known as the New Middle East. She stated that the Arab region should cooperate together and develop a real Arab Union, similarly to the European Union.

After her speech, there was a Q&A session where the attendees had the opportunity to interact with Dr. Makram-Ebeid and express their thoughts and ask questions.
