AUK Hosts 9th Annual High School Football Tournament

The Office of Admissions at the American University of Kuwait (AUK) organized its 9th annual High School Football Tournament (HSFT) where it hosted male and female teams from fifteen private high schools across Kuwait. This annual event aims at engaging high school students and promoting healthy competition. Participating teams met at the AUK campus’ football field to compete for the tournament titles.

Female teams included the Gulf English School (GES), American International School (AIS), Dasman Bilingual School (DBS), Al-Bayan Bilingual School (BBS), Ajial Bilingual School (ABS), Cambridge English School (CES) - Mangaf, Martyr Asrar Al-Qabandi Bilingual School (MAQBS) and American Academy for Girls (AAG). The team from AIS were the champions of this year’s event, while Bayan Bilingual School were runners up. Individual awardees for the girls teams were recognized for the skills they displayed on the field; these included Riyaf AL-Banwan for the Golden Boot, Rawan Bahman as the Best Goal Keeper, and Lulu Al-Ghanim as the Most Valuable Player (MVP).
 
Participating schools in the males’ tournament included GES, AIS, DBS, BBS, ABS, CES- Hawalli, CES-Mangaf, MAQBS, Lycee Francais De Koweit (LFK), Ghars Bilingual School (GHARS), Universal Civilization Academy School (UCA), American Creativity Academy (ACA), Danah Universal School of Kuwait (DUSK) and Oxford Academy. ABS won the tournament title, while AIS were recognized as the runners up. Individual awardees for the boys included Mohammed Al Foghum for the Golden Boot, Abdullah AL-Enezi as the Best Goal Keeper, and Adularahman Al-Ajmi as the Most Valuable Player (MVP).

Maher Dabbouseh, the Director of Admissions at AUK, was encouraged by the growth in popularity of the football tournament, “We would like to thank all the participating schools as this year’s tournament resulted in 14 male teams and 8 female teams totaling over 250 competing students. This year’s event was very successful, and the sportsmanship displayed was extraordinary.
