AUK Library Celebrates International Open Access Week

04th Nov 2019 | by the Department of PR & Marketing

The library joined in the international celebration for Open Access Week—an annual scholarly communication event that opens access to research; this year’s theme was ‘Open for Whom? Equity in Open Knowledge’ that discusses ‘Designing Equitable Foundations for Open Knowledge.’ The celebration brings libraries, researchers, students, and scholars together to re-think strategies and structures for opening knowledge.

To catalyze new conversations and bring awareness about Open Access resources and movement to the AUK community, the library has put up an exhibit during the week to showcase OA resources and highlight its efforts and contributions towards this movement. In addition, a contest was organized for students to participate and learn about different Open Access concepts, types, and applications. The winning student—Laila Dallol received a KD20 Starbucks voucher.
