Ali Al-Zu’bi

Assistant Professor of Physics

Dr. Ali Al-Zu’bi is a visiting assistant professor of physics and mathematics at the American University of Kuwait. In 2002, he graduated from the Jordan University of Science and technology (JUST) with a BSc. of applied physics. In 2006, he obtained his M.Sc. in physics from the University of Stuttgart in Germany. The doctoral studies were performed between 2006-2009 at the research center Julich-Aachen. His PhD in natural science was awarded by the Technical University of Aachen (RWTH-Aachen).

Dr. Al-Zu’bi has More than fifteen years of progressive research experience of theoretical modeling and simulations in materials science and engineering. His professional research includes positions at Nobel prize winners’ institutions with very high worldwide reputation, such as the Research Center-Julich and Max-Planck Institute. Al-Zu’bi worked on one of the most powerful IBM-supercomputers and high-performance clusters to perform his modeling and simulations. He has publications in several high ranking journals like Nature Nanotechnology, Physical Review Letters, Acta Materialia, Advanced Engineering Materials, Applied Physics Letters, Crystals, Physica Status Solidi, and Physical Review B.

His expertise is in Nano-magnetism: resistive switching, electronic properties of spintronic materials, and predictive quantum theory of nano-magnets. He also worked on finite temperature effects: phonons, free energies, and phase diagrams of magnetic shape memory alloys.
