Dr. Ghulam Amjad Hussain joined AUK in 2017 as assistant professor of electrical engineering, and has been appointed assistant dean of the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences in October, 2020. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Aalto University, School of Electrical Engineering (previously known as Helsinki University of Technology), Finland in 2016. He received his MS and BE in Electrical Engineering from the Aalto University and the University of Engineering & Technology (UET), Lahore, Pakistan respectively.
 
He had served as a senior R&D engineer at Eaton Corporation (Corporate Research & Technology division), and project engineer at Al-Ahleia Switchgear Co. Kuwait.
 
He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers (IEEE), member of the Kuwait Society of Engineers (KSE), and Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC). Dr. Hussain has authored/co-authored several scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals and conferences. His research interests span the areas of power systems, electrical machines, high voltage engineering, power system fault and transient analysis, protection and controls in modern microgrid and smart grid technologies, renewal energy systems and engineering education. Currently, he is also working on a KFAS funded project (KWD 10,000) as a principal investigator, while collaborating with researchers abroad. In addition to chairing and serving on numerous department, college, and university committees, Dr. Hussain serves as a reviewer of various international journals and conferences.
