This program provides students with an opportunity to demonstrate their capacity for leadership, teamwork and business activity in the context of work experience. AACD and The College of Business and Economics have collaborated on Resume/Interview skill workshops for the Internship Program, making it mandatory for interning students to attend prior to applying for an internship. These workshops are the first step to help prepare the interns entering the business world. The workshops are conducted either by AACD staff or by prospective employers where the faculty supervisor is responsible for approving the internship and supervising the student during the duration of their placement.
Students applying for internships should:
- be referred to their academic division for internship handbooks and contracts.
- have a specific GPA in order to qualify for an internship for academic credit, depending on their major.
- Complete 120 hours of supervised internship work in order to receive 3 academic credits.
Note: If a student double majors or wants to obtain a double degree, they need to complete separate 3 credit internships.
In addition, the AACD coordinates with other 3rd
parties to offer students and alumni access to workshops and courses, such as the agreement with the Manpower & Government Restructuring Program (MGRP) and the discounted rates at the Center for Continuing Education (CCE).
AUK students have had opportunities to intern in organizations such as NBK, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, Al Ahli United Bank, Eminds Project Management, Baker Tilly, Grant Thornton, Alghanim Industries, RSM Al Bazie, Gulf Bank and many more.
