Derek Parks is an instructor in the writing program of AUK’s Department of English. Before coming to AUK, he taught academic English at Kuwait University. He has also taught English at the University of Arizona, where he received both an B.A in political science and an M.A. in T.E.S.O.L. In addition to teaching in academia, he has been involved in adult education in the US, Jordan, Syria, and Kuwait, teaching for various NGOs such as Vision Quest and UNWRA, as well as for private and governmental institutions such as the Kuwait Institute of Banking Studies and USIS. He has particular interest in new literacies, comparative literature, film criticism, rhetoric, media ecologies, and multimodal critical discourse analysis.
