Associate Professor of Banking & Finance

Dr. Mohammad Al-Elian is an associate professor of corporate finance and risk management at the American University of Kuwait. He pursued his bachelor’s degree in 1991 followed by his first master’s degree in 1995. In 1998 he was granted a government scholarship to pursue his second master degree in Applied Finance (MAF) and his Ph.D degree in corporate finance and risk management from Australia.

Since 1997, through his teaching experience, Dr. Al-Elian has shown a very well diversified undergraduate and graduate teaching portfolio in which he taught most finance, investment, and risk management courses in several universities. For his professional academic development, Dr. Al-Elian has spent many years holding academic administrative duties as head of department, associate dean, and dean. Dr. Al-Elian has chaired many academic committees and served as member in most if not all academic committees, in addition to being a director and academic advisor for numerous academic programs. Dr. Al-Elian has made a significant contribution in developing undergraduate and graduate programs curriculum, courses major sheets, and constructing minor and double major programs.

Dr. Al-Elian has supervised and examined many master’s degree theses in the field of finance and banking and has provided many diversified professional training courses, locally and regionally. In terms of his scholarly interests, Dr. Al-Elian has a well-diversified scholarship research portfolio. His primary research interests and expertise lie in corporate finance, financial risk management, international finance, and the energy industry. Dr. Al-Elian has many papers that are published in several qualified journal lists, in addition to his attendance to many recognized international and regional conferences worldwide. It is worth mentioning that Dr. Al-Elian is very much interested in the AACSB conferences and seminars. He attended the Business Accreditation Seminar, Online and Blended Education Seminar Meeting Global Needs for Future of Learning, AACSB Annual Meeting, International Conference & Annual Meeting that are normally held in the USA and Europe.
