Counseling Center
The Counseling Center at AUK is dedicated to fostering student wellness, resilience, and personal growth. We offer a comprehensive range of services—including personal counseling, disability accommodations, and creative therapies—to support students in navigating academic, emotional, and social challenges. Our mission is to empower students to thrive during their university experience and beyond.
Personal Counseling
Our counselors provide confidential, individualized support to help students manage a variety of concerns, including:
-
Anxiety and depression
-
Academic stress and online learning challenges
-
Interpersonal and family issues
-
Adjustment and identity development
Counseling sessions are tailored to meet each student's unique needs. We also offer workshops, trainings, and guest speaker events to promote mental health awareness and equip students with coping strategies.
Disability Services
We are committed to ensuring equal access to education for all students. Our Disability Services team works with students to identify and implement appropriate accommodations, such as:
-
Extended test-taking time
-
Accessible learning materials
-
Classroom adjustments
Students seeking accommodations should provide verifiable documentation and engage in a collaborative process to determine suitable support. Our team also liaises with faculty to facilitate the implementation of approved accommodations.
Art and Music Therapy
Art and music therapy is provided to engage and encourage students towards creative self-expression through art and music to promote student wellness. Two rooms are equipped to allow students to have a place to relieve anxiety and stress and to communicate issues that they may be struggling with in creative and therapeutic ways.
Confidentiality
The Counseling Center adheres to strict confidentiality policies in line with the American Counseling Association standards. All counseling records are maintained separately from academic files and are not disclosed without the student's written consent, except in cases where disclosure is required by law or when there is an imminent risk to the student or others.
