Marwa Sharawi

Visiting Assistant Professor

Marwa Sharawi is a visiting assistant professor in the Collage of Engineering and Applied Sciences (CEAS), at the American University of Kuwait (AUK). She holds an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in information technology from the Faculty of Computers and Artificial Intelligence, Cairo University, Egypt. While pursuing her Ph.D., Dr. Marwa worked on modeling an optimized topological architecture of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) that addresses the challenges of the WSN and targeting a better performance, stability, and longevity of the network. She worked in the domain of machine learning for feature selection to find the optimal features combination using the wrapper-based feature selection mode. Her research interests are in the fields of artificial intelligence, nature-inspired optimization, data communications and wireless sensor networks. Dr. Marwa’s publications record includes book chapters published in Elsevier and CRC press, Applied Soft Computing journal, and IEEE conferences.

Dr. Marwa held different computer science teaching and management positions with different roles and tasks. She served as the program coordinator of the Faculty of Computer Studies at Arab Open University (AOU), Egypt branch. As for academic accreditation, Dr. Marwa chaired the academic accreditation and validation committees at AOU to secure institutional accreditation by the Open University, UK.
