Biography

Dr. Shareefa Abdullah Al-Adwani is an Associate Professor of Political Science in the Department of International Relations at the American University of Kuwait. She serves as the Assistant Dean for General Education at the College of Arts and Sciences.  She also serves as Department Chair of the Department of International Relations and of the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences. She completed her PhD in Political Science at the University of California, Davis in June 2016, focusing on the two fields of International Relations and Quantitative Methods.  Dr. Al-Adwani has over fifteen years of teaching experience teaching at the college level, has over a dozen publications, and organized a Gulf Studies Symposium that welcomed international scholars and their academic paper presentations in her previous position as AUK’s Director of the Center for Gulf Studies.  For two years, Dr. Al-Adwani consulted as a Scientific Advisor for International Programs at the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) and has served on the Board of Directors for and taught at the Saud Al-Nasser Al-Sabah Kuwait Diplomatic Institute (KDI) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  At AUK, she teaches courses related to Kuwait foreign policy, international law and organizations, politics and women in the Middle East, and quantitative methods.
