AUK Hosts Annual Sports Banquet
The Office of Student Life, Division of Student Affairs at AUK hosted its Annual Sports Banquet. The annual event is held to honor the hard work and dedication of student-athletes throughout the sports season.
The event commemorated the players' remarkable performance and accomplishments, encompassing not only their achievements on the field but also their other endeavors.
Dr. Rawda Awwad shed light on the exceptional qualities that set AUK athletes apart from others, “At AUK participating in sports means more than just winning games or earning trophies. It means embracing the challenges that sports present and using them as opportunities for personal growth and character development. But what truly distinguishes AUK sports is our emphasis on sportsmanship. In the midst of competition, we place utmost importance on respect, empathy, and humility. Our athletes understand that victory is not solely defined by the score line but by the way they carry themselves on and off the courts and field. They demonstrate grace in both victory and defeat, offering a helping hand to teammates and opponents alike.”
In addition to celebrating the current season’s achievements, AUK president, Dr. Rawda Awwad, and dean of Student Affairs, Ms. Hala Al Abdulrazzaq, recognized the Hall of Fame Athletes. Students, Haya Al Dabbous and Najeeb Al Awadhi were inducted in recognition of their outstanding sportsmanship.
Commenting on the success of the banquet, senior sports coordinator, Mohammad Al Saleh said, “AUK is committed towards instilling in athletes the virtues of hard work, discipline, and teamwork that elevate their athletic and emotional capacities to reach both personal and team victories.
