The Finance Department at the American University of Kuwait (AUK) ensures sound financial management, regulatory compliance, and high-quality support services for students, departments, and institutional partners. Key Responsibilities
- Accounts Payable
Processing payments to vendors, employees, and service providers in accordance with contracts and financial controls. - Accounts Receivable & Student Accounts
Managing incoming tuition and fee payments, government sponsorships, and other receivables; supporting students and families with account-related inquiries and reconciliations. - Cash & Treasury Management
Maintaining cash flow oversight, bank reconciliations, and daily liquidity management to ensure operational continuity. - Budget Monitoring & Control
Tracking departmental budgets, preparing variance analysis, and supporting university-wide financial planning. - Management & Financial Reporting
Preparing internal and external reports to support executive decisions, regulatory requirements, and institutional planning. - Audit Coordination & Compliance
Finalizing annual financial statements and facilitating external audits while ensuring adherence to tax and financial regulations. - Fixed Asset Management
Recording, capitalizing, and monitoring the university’s physical assets, including revaluation and periodic stock verification. - Scholarship & Sponsored Student Accounting
Coordinating with sponsoring agencies and ministries to manage scholarships and apply sponsor contributions to student accounts. - Payroll Administration
Overseeing monthly payroll, overload payments, reconciliation, and coordination with relevant departments and banks. - Contract & Financial Risk Management
Supporting contract reviews, financial risk assessments, and collaboration with procurement and legal units as needed. - Student-Facing Financial Services
Responding to student and parent financial queries, issuing refunds, and assisting with payment plans in coordination with Registrar and Admissions offices. - Special Projects & Financial Modeling
Conducting feasibility studies, developing financial models, and supporting strategic initiatives with data-driven financial insights. - Purchasing
Procuring the goods and services for the university to operate efficiently and cost-effectively. It manages supplier relationships, negotiates contracts, and ensures timely delivery of quality materials. - Stores
Receiving, storing, and issuing items as required for university operations. It ensures proper inventory management, stock control, and record-keeping to support smooth workflow and avoid any shortages. - Ancillary Operations Oversight
Managing, Controlling, Accounting, Reconciliation, and reporting for auxiliary operations and university-managed service units.
