Dr. Fahad Dhawi, Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at AUK, recently facilitated a compelling lecture by the esteemed local artist and educator, Fareed Abdal. This talk was a part of Dr. Dhawi's Arabic & Islamic Calligraphy Course, known for its inclusion of distinguished guest speakers.
Abdal stands as a pillar in the Kuwaiti artistic community, known not only for his architectural prowess but also for his dedication to advancing both the material and spiritual dimensions of the Arab world.
His lecture explored the evolution and distinctive characteristics of both the Kufic and Maghrebi Scripts, after which an engaging workshop ensued, designed to enhance students' proficiency in these revered calligraphic styles.
He then guided participants through the intricacies of handling the reed pen, encouraging them to employ their own bamboo, kamish, or jail pens to meticulously inscribe their names on sheets of paper. The completed works were then laid out for collective review.
AUK prides itself on enriching its academic environment by featuring guest speakers who bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to its students. These esteemed guests, often experts in their respective fields, offer unique perspectives and insights that complement the University's curriculum.
