AUK GDES Students Hold Environmental Design Exhibition

An exhibition displaying artwork created by AUK students enrolled in an Environmental Design course this semester was held in the Multipurpose Room last October. The purpose of the exhibition was to prepare the students for their final Capstone exhibition by helping them develop an understanding of the application of key elements behind installing exhibitions, such as time, material and concepts.

The Environmental Graphic Design course is an elective course offered in the Graphic Design Program by Professor Marcella Kulchitsky, Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at AUK. Professor Marcella explained that the learning outcomes for this assignment were achieved in the days prior to the exhibition, as the students were learning skills to exhibition design. The exhibition on Wednesday also provided a platform for the students to showcase their best coursework from foundation and design classes.

"The most important part of today is actually the weeks that took place before when the students were preparing their work and laying out concepts. This moment is really the time for their final products to shine. Today prepares students for their capstone exhibition in the spring so that they know what to expect and how to manage their time more effectively because they've already gone through this experience," explained Professor Marcella.

According to Marcella, this group exhibition enables students to consider how their presentations would be viewed individually as well as collectively by visitors. The skills learned from this experience will enable the students to prepare for their final Capstone exhibition next semester.
