Abstract:
Museums, castles, and aquariums are some of the most-visited sites by tourists. However, some tourists prefer going with the aid of a guide. In this work, we introduce the implementation of a tour-guide robot using Kinect technology to facilitate the process of tourist guides. The robot will replace human guides. The robot will follow tourists wherever they go, avoid obstacles in its way, and provide information about the place once the tourists have given it the command to do so. The robot detects different objects, thus providing information about them, using RFID tags. In addition, these tags will help identify the robot's location with the use of a monitoring website. In Kuwait, the lack of tourist guides is common and the goal of this work is to give tourists a smooth and pleasant experience at touristic areas.
