AUK Celebrates Fall 2026 Welcome Week with Four Days of Engaging Activities
The American University of Kuwait (AUK) welcomed students to the Fall 2026 semester with a series of exciting events and activities held from September 27 to 30, 2026. Organized by the Office of Student Life and Alumni Affairs, the four-day Welcome Week celebration brought together students, faculty, and staff, fostering a sense of community, school spirit, and student engagement as the new academic year began.
The celebrations officially kicked off with a live concert featuring Kuwaiti singer Abdulaziz Al Dhuwaihi, which served as the main opening event of Welcome Week and attracted over 300 students. The performance created a lively and welcoming atmosphere, bringing students together to celebrate the beginning of the semester and setting an enthusiastic tone for the activities that followed.
The festivities continued with the Involvement Fair, a flagship event held at the beginning of every semester that introduces students to the diverse range of student clubs and organizations available at AUK. The fair provided an opportunity for students to explore their interests, connect with club representatives, and learn about the various clubs they can join. By encouraging students to become active members of the campus community, the event highlighted the importance of extracurricular involvement in enriching the overall university experience.
Students also participated in the Seen Jeem Tournament, an interactive trivia competition that encouraged friendly competition, teamwork, and engagement among participants. Welcome Week concluded with an exciting series of faculty and staff versus students volleyball and futsal matches, where participants demonstrated enthusiasm, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The faculty and staff teams emerged victorious, bringing the four-day celebration to a spirited close.
Commenting on the significance of Welcome Week, Dean of Student Affairs, Omar Mehdi, stated:
"Welcome Week is an important opportunity to bring our university community together and set a positive tone for the semester ahead. Through a diverse range of activities, we aim to encourage students to connect with one another, explore opportunities for involvement, and develop a stronger sense of belonging at AUK. Seeing students, faculty, and staff come together to celebrate the start of the academic year reflects the vibrant and supportive campus environment we strive to create."
The Fall 2026 Welcome Week celebrations reflected AUK's continued commitment to enriching student life and fostering meaningful connections beyond the classroom. Through cultural performances, student involvement opportunities, interactive competitions, and sporting activities, the university provided a welcoming and engaging start to the semester while reinforcing its dedication to building a connected and dynamic campus community.
